UK to Launch Cyber Innovation Center

The U.K. Cyber Security Ambassador, Conrad Prince, will speak at the 8th Annual Billington CyberSecurity Summit, Sept. 13, Washington, D.C.  His keynote will focus on U.K. Cybersecurity Priorities.

The U.K. government last week announced it plans to invest nearly $20 million (£14.5 million) over three years to create a new cyber defense innovation center expected to open in early 2018.

It is one of two new centers being developed to make sure UK firms have access to the latest innovative technologies, Minister for Digital Matt Hancock announced.  An innovation center in Cheltenham opened earlier this year with the launch of the GCHQ Cyber Accelerator programme.

This initiative is part of the Government’s £1.9 billion investment which aims to transform the UK’s cyber security.  “London is one of the world’s most important tech sectors, with a record £5.6 billion investment in the industry in the past six months and a new tech firm formed every hour in the capital” of London, said Matt Hancock.
